Straddling a timeline of three centuries, since its founding by the Rev. S. T. Pettigrew in 1865, Bishop Cotton Girls’ School has consistently educated thousands of girl students, empowering them to evolve into women of substance.
Guiding has left me a completely different person than I would have been had I not joined. My 7 years of guiding have been the best years of my life. ‘Be Prepared’ is our Motto. We were taught to be truthful, loyal, courageous, courteous, a lover of nature, disciplined, thrifty and pure in thought, word and deed. We learnt to cook, clean, be self dependent and help others.
Seven years ago when I joined Guides, I had no idea what it was all about. However the impact it had on me is still evident in my daily life. It has made me a disciplined and independent girl. Today, I can face any challenge that comes my way, being calm and focused.
